The Ultimate DIY Deep Conditioner

Nourish Your Hair with Nature’s Best!

In the quest for luscious, healthy hair, sometimes the most effective treatments are the ones you make yourself. Today, we're diving into a fabulous DIY deep conditioner recipe that combines the nourishing power of natural ingredients. Grab your bowl, because this homemade deep conditioner is about to transform your hair care routine!

Why Homemade Deep Conditioners?

Commercial deep conditioners often come with a list of ingredients that can be hard to pronounce and even harder to decipher. By making your own, you have full control over what goes into your hair, ensuring it’s only the best and most beneficial. This recipe is simple, effective, and utilizes ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen!

The Ingredients

  1. Egg Yolk: The star of our conditioner, the egg yolk, is rich in sulfur, selenium, lecithin, and protein. These nutrients are essential for maintaining healthy hair, promoting strength, and boosting shine. Fun fact: I recently saw a picture of twin yolks, which was a fascinating discovery!
  1. Avocado: This creamy fruit is packed with vitamins and healthy fats that deeply moisturize and nourish the hair. Its natural oils help to strengthen and condition, making it a perfect addition to our mix.
  1. Honey: A natural humectant, honey draws moisture into your hair, ensuring it stays hydrated. Plus, it has antibacterial properties that can help maintain a healthy scalp.
  1. Peppermint Oil: Adding a few drops of peppermint oil or your favorite essential oil not only provides a refreshing scent but also stimulates blood circulation in your scalp, promoting healthy hair growth.

The Recipe

Step 1: Prepare Your Bowl

Start by grabbing a bowl and an egg. Crack the egg and separate the yolk from the white. Discard the white (or save it for another use). Place the yolk in your bowl and whisk it lightly to break it up.

Step 2: Avocado Time

Take a ripe avocado and mash it thoroughly. You want it to be smooth to ensure it mixes well with the egg yolk. If your avocado isn’t perfectly ripe, you might need to work a bit harder to get a smooth consistency, but it’s worth it!

Step 3: Mix It Up

Add the mashed avocado to the bowl with the egg yolk. Next, pour in 2 tablespoons of honey. Stir everything together until you have a smooth, creamy mixture.

Step 4: Essential Oils

Add a few drops of peppermint oil (or your preferred essential oil) to the mix. This step is optional, but the added fragrance and scalp stimulation are fantastic benefits.

Step 5: Application

Apply the conditioner to your hair, making sure to distribute it evenly from roots to tips. Don’t forget to massage your scalp gently as you go—this will help the conditioner penetrate better and stimulate circulation.

Step 6: Heat Things Up

Cover your hair with a plastic cap. To enhance the conditioning effect, wrap a thick scarf around your head. The warmth helps to open up your hair cuticles, allowing the conditioner to penetrate deeper and work its magic.

Step 7: Relax

Go about your business for at least an hour. Use this time to relax or do something productive while your hair absorbs all the nourishing goodness.

Step 8: Rinse and Revitalize

After an hour or more, rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water. Follow up with your favorite conditioning products to enhance the effects of your deep conditioning treatment.

Note that all Naturaz products are formulated to condition your hair throughout, so this at home conditioner just gives you the boost you need if exposed to harsh weather or when it's too dry outside (hot summer & cold winters).
